Richard Smith (2013) argumentiert, dass Kapitalismus (Wachstumszwang) und extreme Ungleichheit unvereinbar mit einem Leben innerhalb der planetaren Grenzen sind und dass deshalb der Übergang zu einer anderen Wirtschaftsform zwingend ist.
Neva Goodwin (2021) beschäftigt sich mit den Ursprüngen des Konsumerismus als ökonomoisches und kulturelles Leitbild und wie man ihn überwinden kann.
